The therapeutic relationship is a key aspect to recovery from mental illness. We believe that you and your doctor should work together in partnership. This ensures you are collaboratively engaged in your own treatment decisions, which can be an empowering experience.
The therapeutic relationship requires an honest and open discussion between patient and doctor. It is important for the doctor to know if you are using drugs and alcohol, or if you are having aggressive or suicidal urges. A holistic and successful treatment plan requires knowledge of all these aspects. Please note that abuse or aggression will not be tolerated, and would mean that care can not be continued.
